Andrew is a Clinical Psychologist who takes a warm and empathetic approach to delivering goal-focussed interventions to help clients overcome emotional difficulties and to thrive. He uses an evidence-based approach to treatment, focussed on alleviating immediate distress and promoting long-term growth and confidence.
Andrew draws on a range of therapies at Northern Beaches Psychology and Assessment to meet the individual needs of his clients, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Emotion Focussed Therapy (for couples). Andrew works with adolescents and adults to help them overcome anxiety-related symptoms (including social anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobia, generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder) mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder) and issues to do with sexual and gender identity. Andrew has particular interest in difficulties faced by LGBTQ+ clients and has volunteered as a counsellor at the Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service (Q-Life) over the past decade.
Andrew is also interested in cognitive, emotional and academic assessment, with experience in delivering the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) and the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT), as well as assessments for learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and commonly comorbid disorders (Conners 3), autism spectrum disorder (Autism Spectrum Rating Scale), and reading (NEALE test) and spelling difficulties (SA Spelling Test).
