The journey toward mental wellness starts with a single step

Taking the First Step.

Mental illness is common.  One in five Australians aged 16-85 experience a mental illness in any year, yet barely more than half seek support.  Indeed, only half as many people who get help for physical illnesses seek help for mental illness.

At Northern Beaches Psychology & Assessment, we recognise that reaching out for help for mental illness can be difficult and daunting.  We also know that distress can be alleviated and that often, results can be achieved rapidly.

We are a local team of Northern Beaches psychologists who provide a warm and welcoming environment, and a safe, comforting space for you to seek the support you need. Each psychologist is dedicated to working collaboratively with clients to alleviate symptoms of anxiety (including generalised anxiety disorder and social phobia), mood disorders (e.g., depression), and ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, psychosis, and eating disorders, among others.

As our name suggests, we also conduct cognitive and educational assessments to identify client’s cognitive abilities, and any learning disorders that might be present.  Assessment of ADHD and commonly co-morbid disorders is also available, as is initial assessment of symptoms of autism spectrum disorder and memory difficulties.

We would love to work you.  If you would like to make an enquiry, please click the Enquire Now or Book Now links.  We would be happy to respond to any questions you might have, to provide advice on accessing mental health supports, or to make an appointment with you if you are ready to proceed.

Therapeutic Relationships.

Northern Beaches Psychology & Assessment believe that developing positive, warm, and empathetic therapeutic relationships with those we care for is essential.  Research shows that the quality of the connection between therapist and client is reflected in treatment outcomes.  Our Northern Beaches psychologists strive to develop compassionate, sincere, collaborative relationships with everyone we work with.

Embracing Diversity.

Northern Beaches Psychology & Assessment practice unconditional positive regard toward all people and welcome everyone to our practice regardless of race, country of origin, nationality, religion, gender, ability, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristic.

Our Manly Psychologists acknowledge that we travel, work, and play on the home of the Guringai people, the traditional owners of this land. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with whom we work and share this community.
